I’m so excited to take part in my very FIRST blog tour!!!
I’m sad to see summer end but, in addition to the joy of some uninterrupted work time (even the hubby goes back to school now) and getting ready for PICTURE DAY! Seriously the best part of the fall (I don’t care about pumpkin spice at ALL, for real…) is planning outfits for picture day and hoping they survive until that camera clicks and then they can go off and play in the dirt patch under the swings and get as messy and muddy and full of marker as they wish.
My favorite back to school picture day outfit is understated, frames the face and doesn’t call attention away from that beautiful child! School photos have moved away from the basic head and shoulder shots to include almost the whole body sometimes! Crazy!
This year, Girly will wear her new Dadaïsme Dress from our fall collection as she is not a ruffly, frou-frou kind of child. Blue is her absolute favorite color and I just happened to have some navy poplin on hand for the middle panel and completely lucked out with the Amy Butler side panel prints. I had to do some creative cutting to get all four panels into the scrap of fabric left over from a project from yore, but I had enough to cut them all and only had the tiniest scraps left over when I was done. There is nothing on the dress to compete with her smile but has interesting enough lines and shapes to be super interesting and cute. And it won’t date itself in a few years either. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing now that I think about it-what will her kids laugh about when she pulls out her old photos (I know mine get a chuckle from mine)??? Maybe I can just keep her in obnoxiously large bows for as long as she’ll let me…

This is a beautiful dress. 🙂
I like the shape of that dress, and how it allows for mixing fabrics so well! Adorable 🙂
Great job on your first blog tour! They are so much fun. This dress is darling! I need to add it to my to-sew list!

I love the dress and the fabric you used! And that bow is perfect too. This pattern is definitely going on my wishlist. Thank you so much for being on our tour!
I think I’ll be in trouble come picture day when my little guy gets to school. I’m unlikely to see it as something to get ready ahead of time for and therefore will be scrambling to make him look good. Your little gal looks so delightful.
Beautiful dress!! I love her expression! Perfect!
Sooooo cute. The dress is absolutely adorable. Looks so versatile. I can totally see it layered into the winter months.
Love the colors of the fabric you used! Beautiful dress! 🙂
I love the fabric combo.
Big bows on little girls, I hope, will never go out of style! Your little lady is very stylish in her new dress and seems to love it! What a hoot to see her having so much fun in the photos!
